TUE is a specialist Broker, based in the heart of the City of Dublin, who provide access to Lloyd’s and the European Market for all Irish & EEA based risks. We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding service due to the longstanding relationships we hold with leading Lloyd’s and Market Underwriters, as well as our many years of experience specialising in the Irish & European Markets.

We are committed to working as a trusted partner to our Brokers, providing them with competitive terms and unique solutions to enable them to continue to win and retain clients. Our people are highly knowledgeable about both the Irish Market and broking into Lloyd’s and the European Market and our Broker Partners benefit from the specialist expertise and advice we provide.

We have facilities to accept a wide range of business including small, individual, annual placements, one-off contracts and large, more sophisticated, or self-insured programmes.

Past

TUE was created in 2007 specialising in the placement of Irish-based risks into Lloyd’s and the London Market. In 2018 TUE was bought by Specialist Risk Investment Limited (now Specialist Risk Group). TUE have continued to service the Irish Market, using their well-established Underwriter relationships to create competitive insurance solutions for their Broker Partners.

Present

TUE have been part of Specialist Risk Group (SRG) since 2018. SRG, the fast-growing integrated group of insurance intermediaries, arrange specialist insurance for corporates operating in the UK and internationally. As part of SRG, TUE benefit from enhanced buying power within the insurance market. SRG currently employ over 1,500 employees, 80 of whom work specifically for TUE.

Future

TUE have an exciting future as part of SRG, as a top 20 broker.

Our parent company, Specialist Risk Group based in the city of London, is one of the fastest-growing groups of insurance intermediaries in the UK. As well as TUE, the Group is split into four business units, providing a bespoke service to our unique markets and clients. The other business units within the Group include: Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions – Speciality Clients, Miles Smith - UK Specialty Broking, Specialist Risk International - International Specialty Broking, and MX – Speciality Underwriting.

As part of a larger group, TUE benefit from the increased buying power we command within the Insurance Market. This allows us to negotiate competitive insurance solutions for our partners.

Lisa Gilton (B Soc Sc, ACII, DLS)

Chief Executive Officer of Specialist Risk Europe Limited

Lisa began her insurance career in 1989 and has worked for leading insurance brokers in Dublin and London. Since 1995, Lisa has dealt with Construction related insurance and consequently has amassed a considerable amount of knowledge and experience in this sector, across all classes of insurance.

Lisa has experience in both retail and wholesale broking and has managed schemes with delegated authority for both London and Local insurers in Liability, Property, Plant, Motor Fleet and Personal Accident areas. Lisa has operated underwriting facilities for various Lloyds syndicates and European Insurers.

Lisa joined TUE in 2013 which became part of the Specialist Risk Group (SRG) in 2019. She was appointed CEO in 2021 with responsibility for the management and oversight of business transacted in the Dublin office and London branch.

Stephen O'Connor

Chairman of Specialist Risk Europe Limited

Stephen O’Connor has over 36 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Stephen helped setup a Lloyd’s broking firm in 1994, which then became part of a US Multinational broker in 2003.

Stephen was a founding partner of The Underwriting Exchange and has been with the group since 2007. Stephen continues to primarily concentrate on the Irish Broking/Irish business within SRG.

In 2024, Warburg Pincus, a global growth investor, and Temasek, a global investment company headquartered in Singapore, acquired the majority shares in Specialist Risk Group.

The partnership with Warburg Pincus and Temasek underscores the strength of SRG’s business model and the confidence of these leading global investors in SRG’s vision and potential. The additional firepower from this investment will enable SRG to accelerate its growth, expand its specialist capabilities, and continue to deliver exceptional value to its clients across complex risk sectors. This marks a significant moment in Chapter 2 of the SRG story which will be marked by internationalising the business.
